After a long vacation, Tiger Wood has returned to the PGA Tour on Thursday. His last match was the Hero World Challenge which was held in December, and he tied for 9th out of 18. Now he makes it first start with Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, and it is his first PGA Tour.
Since sometimes, he has experienced enough euphoric highs and soul-crushing lows to last several lifetimes. He has been gone through some serious health issues which affected his gameplay. In 2008, Woods won the last of his 14 major championships on the South Course and also suffered from a stress fracture in his leg and ligament damage in his knee.
In 2015, Wood suffered from back pain and withdrew from the tournament after playing 12 holes of his opening round. In 2017, Woods missed the Farmers cut after shooting 76-72 with his swing looking very encumbered. That was the last full-field PGA Tour event of Woods.
Woods withdrew from the Dubai Desert Classic after an opening-round 76 with back soreness. Then he disappeared for nearly a year due to his back surgery.
Woods said “Before the Hero, I was given the OK probably about three or four weeks before the tournament, and I thought I did a pretty good in that prep time. I’ve had a little more time to get ready for this event.’’ Now Woods is feeling good. For now, playing 72 holes would be treated as a victory for Woods.
Billy Horschel, after Woods’ performance in the Bahamas, said: “I saw some good stuff, and I think he’s going to come out and shock some people.”
Talking about the Farmers Insurance Open, it will be held in Torrey Pines, La Jolla from Thursday to Sunday, 25th January to 28th January. The defending champion is John Rahm.
