Dan Gurney was among the greatest sport’s innovators, a free thinking sportier, and a world-class driver who managed to excel and survive in the deadliest and kinkiest eras. He became popular after his win in 1967 Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix with his eagle-Weslake car, a car that he created himself. With his never die attitude, innovative and effective engineering solutions, constant interest and zeal towards driving super racing cars made him the greatest driver of all time that America could ever get again.
Gurney had his greatest achievements in one following week in the year 1967 when defeated all of his competitors and won the Le Mans 24 Hours for Ford with his partner American Legend AJ foyt. This happened before the victory in the Belgian Grand Prix that took place at the hallowed Francor champs that track straight seven days later to his win in the Eagle Car.
His death was reported by his beloved wife Evi and his family who had to say, “With one last smile on his handsome face, Dan Drove off into the unknown just before noon, January 14, 2018.” In the deepest sorrows with a heavy heart, everybody hailed goodbye to the man who gave love, joy, and freedom to live life on the edge during his time.
