Notre Dame loses junior receiver Equanimeous St. Brown to the NFL

Notre Dame junior receiver Equanimeous St. Brown has declared that he will listen to his father’s advice and head to the NFL draft. The junior has elected to skip his senior season with a year of eligibility remaining. This announcement was made by him on Thursday night via his Twitter handle. He has led the Irish in receiving the yards and receptions in each of the last two seasons. St Brown stayed ahead this season in Notre Dame’s 38-20 loss to Stanford when he had five catches for 1111 yards with one touchdown.

In his Twitter post on Thursday, St. Brown wrote, “Three years ago I decided to attend the best University in the world, Notre Dame. I’m extremely thankful for the opportunities given me and the lessons that the coaches taught me. I’m a better person and player because of it.”

In the post, he also further thanked all his professors, who helped him be a better student, his mentors who helped him lead the right path and his teammates who he honors and has fond memories that will last a lifetime. Lastly, he also thanked his family for supporting him.

Notably, St. Brown ends his Irish career with 13 touchdowns and 92 catches for 1,484 yards. His last Notre Dame touchdown will be for 75 yards at Stanford in this regular season’s finale. His length will at least grab some of the attention of few NFL teams to consider him, although he is not yet a highly-touted Draft. But a good workout session could certainly get this changed.

The potential receivers which the Notre Dame will look into to take on a larger role in the year 2018 include receivers such as Michael Young, Miles Boykin; both of them had two fourth touchdown catches in the Citrus Bowl, Chase Claypool, and Freddy Canteen.
