Green Bay Packers sign Davante Adams to 4 years, $58 million contract

The Green Bay Packers have signed wide receiver Davante Adams with a contract extension of $58 million for the tenure of four years to keep Adams away from becoming a free agent in March next year.

Ted Thompson, Green Bay’s executive vice president, general manager and director of football operations announced the signing on Friday. Even though the terms and conditions of the contract were not disclosed, but still some of the reports say that the deal includes an $18 million signing bonus, with $32 million in the first two years of the deal. Adams leads the Green packers with 74 catches for 885 yards and ten touchdowns in 14 games. However, he will not play in the Sunday’s finale held at Detroit due to a concussion sustained on December 17 at Carolina.

As per Sports, after Pittsburg’s Antonio Brown’s $17 million, Houston’s DeAndre Hopkins $16.2 million and Cincinnati’s A.J. Green $15 million average salaries, Davante Adam’s $14.5 million average salaries would stand as the fourth-highest in the NFL next season.

Adams did not play in the last week game against Minnesota as he suffered a concussion on a hit by Panthers Thomas Davis which was his second concussion of the season and the third in 14 months. In four NFL seasons, Adams has 237 career receptions for 2,811 yards and 26 touchdowns.

Mike McCarthy, the Green Bay Packers coach, said on Friday that the players who would not be playing in the Sunday’s finale against the Lions due to injuries are guard Jahri Evans, tight end Richard Rodgers, linebacker Nick Perry and running back Aaron Jones.

Since the year 2008, this is the first time that the Green Bay Packers will miss the playoffs. Besides, Quarterback Aaron Rodgers could not play for nine games due to a collarbone injury.
