Soon after this incident, a severe controversy has emerged in the US politics. The same event had also taken place in China in September 2016.
After an unexpected incident which has happened in China in September 2016, the former football player Wendell Brown was detained in China.
Wendell Brown had played football at Detroit King High School, Ball State and in the CFL. In 2015, to coach an American football league and to carry out his own fitness company he moved to Chongqing in China.
While attending a friend’s birthday party on 24th September 2016, some local offered him drinks, but brown declined that offer. But the local which were on the side took it as an act of disrespect and had started throwing bottles at him. Then, he was arrested on the charge of hitting man. On the other hand, Brown stated that he had not bitten anyone at the party he just raised his arms to block the bottles. He was arrested on no American-style bail and no discovery process.
For this case, he hired a Chinese lawyer. But he was asked to plead guilty and asked to pay 100,000. But he wasn’t that much of amount.
A trial was held in July 2017 with the courtroom packed with Chinese supporters of Brown. After that Wendell’s Chinese friends stated that his innocence was proven. The judge has yet to render a verdict, meaning Wendell Brown has spent five months just awaiting word on his guilt or innocence. There are other Americans who still sit in Chinese jails pending even a verdict or resolution of their cases.
Antoinette Brown, Wendell’s mother, is still wondering and stated that Trump has not gotten involved the way he did for LaVar Ball’s kid.
