Merab Dvalishvili is scheduled for a title fight in the coming weeks, but recent reports reveal he may face challenges following a toe injury sustained during a sparring session. As rumors of a potential withdrawal from the fight with Sean O’Malley swirl, Dvalishvili’s team has asserted that he remains committed to competing.

In an appearance on the ‘Submission Radio’ podcast, Dvalishvili’s coach, John Wood, was quick to quell any concerns regarding the injury. He underscored that the broken toe would not deter Dvalishvili from his upcoming title defense.

“I’m sure he broke his toe… That’s nothing compared to some of the things we’ve had going into a lot of the fights… He’s going to show up and do his job no matter what,” said Wood.

This confidence from Wood signals hope for fans eager for the title rematch. Dvalishvili has been on a remarkable ascent, having recently clinched the title from O’Malley and then defeating Umar Nurmagomedov in a commanding performance. However, as the rematch approaches, Dvalishvili has expressed some difficulties in finding motivation.

Merab Dvalishvili Faces Motivation Challenges

Dvalishvili faced O’Malley previously, delivering a strong performance that allowed him to dominate every round and secure a unanimous decision victory. With O’Malley seeking redemption, Dvalishvili has admitted that motivating himself is proving to be a challenge.

It’s hard to motivate myself because I’m fighting the same guy,” said Dvalishvili.

As the fight date approaches, the Stakes remain high, with fans eager to see how this matchup unfolds.
