Freddie Freeman Remains Absent From Spring Training Due To Ankle Discomfort

Freddie Freeman sustained an ankle injury at the end of September during a game against the Padres. The Dodgers’ star player endured significant pain but still participated in the World Series, contributing to the Dodgers’ victory over the Yankees.

Without Freeman’s presence, the Dodgers likely wouldn’t have clinched game one of the series. He ended up being named the World Series MVP and is gearing up to continue his impressive performance for the team in 2025. However, his ankle issues may prevent him from joining spring training.

Although Freddie Freeman has made progress in recovering from his injury, he prioritizes caution to ensure he is fully ready for the regular season. The Dodgers are unwilling to jeopardize the health of one of their key players, as they need him in peak condition. Freeman mentioned that he would participate in live batting practice and workouts but would forgo spring training.

“I don’t think I will be in the games at the beginning. It looks like I’m going to start a running progression right when I get to spring training. As of right now, I am on track to be able to play in Tokyo,” Freeman communicated via Dodgers Nation.

Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani Anticipate Their Second World Series Title Together

Freeman and Ohtani are aiming for their second World Series championship as they embark on a promising 2025 campaign. They shared their thoughts at the DodgersFest Fan Event, where fans got a glimpse of the 2025 Dodgers lineup and expressed their enthusiasm for another World Series pursuit.

Ohtani is preparing to resume pitching duties. The dual-threat superstar is set to begin a throwing program during spring training, as indicated by manager Dave Roberts.

“Once he gets to spring training and we see where the throwing program is, I’ll think we’ll just go from there,” Roberts remarked.

Freeman is taking a cautious approach but is focused on preparing for the upcoming series in Tokyo. At present, the status of Ohtani pitching in Tokyo remains uncertain. The Dodgers are already favored to secure a second consecutive World Series title. The Boys in Blue have been one of the most proactive teams during the off-season, while teams like the Padres have made limited moves, leaving players like Manny Machado frustrated with the lack of progress.
