“I just fell to my knees in an Arby’s bathroom,” wrote one fan on X, previously known as Twitter.
“The WNBA is in excellent hands,” added another user.
WNBA Conveys Concerns About the League’s Future
Brink’s rise to prominence early in her career is noteworthy, especially considering she is part of a rookie class that includes marketing powerhouses like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. The recent surge in basketball superstars has drawn in a new wave of fans, leading to unprecedented viewership for the league in 2024.
Brink remains hopeful that the WNBA can sustain its impressive ratings moving forward, yet she acknowledges moments of uncertainty.
“It’s groundbreaking. It’s just incredibly exciting and, honestly, foreign for me to receive this level of attention for women’s sports and basketball, but we welcome it,” she stated.
“We hope this momentum lasts. There is a bit of fear—will people jump off the bandwagon?”
The former Stanford standout elaborated on her thoughts, expressing a desire for recognition for herself and her fellow athletes in the WNBA.
“I think it’s about hoping that myself and these other women continue to receive support from the media and fans, as we put in so much effort. Our league has often been somewhat overlooked; it’s unfamiliar for us to experience this level of backing,” Brink concluded.
