Allegations against Oklahoma City Thunder’s player, Josh Giddey, have taken a surprising turn after claims surfaced that he had a relationship with a minor.
According to TMZ, the girl in question is refusing to speak with the police, and her parents are also uncooperative.
Law enforcement sources have expressed the challenges they face in gathering information regarding the social media claims, as no one is currently cooperating. This lack of cooperation makes it difficult for officials to determine if any laws were broken.
The allegations are based on photos and videos of Josh with a young girl, including a picture of them both topless with a caption that raised serious concerns.
While the girl is reported to be 15 years old, her age has not been confirmed, and authorities are working to verify it. The NBA is also investigating, but Giddey is currently eligible to play as no laws have been found to have been broken at this time.
Head coach Mark Daigneault confirmed that Giddey remains available to play and that there is no change in his status from a basketball standpoint. When asked about the allegations, Giddey declined to comment.
Josh Giddey, an Australian player, was selected by the Thunder as the sixth-overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He is currently averaging 12.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game, with a shooting accuracy of 43.1 percent from the field and 29 percent from three-point range.
