After months of speculation, Jimmy Butler has finally addressed the rumors linking him to pop sensation Shakira.
Throughout the Miami Heat’s impressive playoff run, Shakira was seen supporting the team, fueling rumors of a romantic connection between her and Butler. Additionally, as she now resides in Miami, it added fuel to the fire.
Shakira ended her long-time relationship with Gerard Pique last year, leading to speculations about her availability. However, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Butler dismissed the rumors and set the record straight.
“She’s an incredible human being and an incredible talent, but you never know what people are doing, so people just make stuff up. Just because we are friends, she lives in Miami, and her sons are big basketball fans — that doesn’t mean anybody’s dating,” Butler clarified.
“Just because people hang out doesn’t mean anybody’s dating. But it gives everybody something to talk about, so y’all take it and y’all run with it. She’s very, very cool and that’s all I got!”
Although the clarification from Butler may be disappointing for some fans, it does not completely rule out the possibility. While Butler’s attempt to recruit Damian Lillard as a teammate may not have been successful, it’s conceivable that he would move on quickly by dating Shakira.
