Atiba Hutchinson left the pitch with a bloody nose during a World Cup match against Croatia. When he returned, the Maple Leafs captain had a tampon stuffed up his nose. Hutchinson was leading his team during their 4-1 defeat to Croatia on Sunday when he was forced off the pitch with a bloody nose.

Hutchinson was making his 100th appearance for the Maple Leafs, but this was easily his most memorable.

Many fans were to quick to remember an iconic scene from the 2006 Amanda Bynes film “She’s the Man” where the character goes undercover as a boy in order to show that she can keep up with her male counterparts on the soccer field.

Her roommates, however, found a box of tampons in her suitcase, so the character desperately explains that he gets “really bad nosebleeds” and sticks them up his nose to stop the flow of blood.

“Beckham does it all the time,” Bynes explains, adding: “It absorbs right up!”

Canada is knocked out of the competition with a game to go, while Croatia will need to avoid defeat against Belgium in their final group match in order to progress to the knockout rounds.
