Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and his loved ones are grateful to have survived a harrowing ordeal they recently faced.

According to a report on ESPN, the FC Barcelona player and his wife were attacked by a group brandishing iron bars at their residence in Castelldefels, just outside Barcelona, Spain.

During the robbery, Aubameyang and his wife were restrained and tied up, while it is uncertain if their two children were present at the time. The robbers forced Aubameyang to open a safe containing valuable jewelry and other possessions.

The incident also included physical violence against Aubameyang. However, Barcelona assured that both Aubameyang and his wife were unharmed after the robbery.

The 33-year-old soccer star had just come back home after Barcelona’s 4-0 victory over Real Valladolid on Sunday.

Known for being the Bundesliga’s leading goal scorer in the 2016-17 season with 31 goals, Aubameyang has scored an impressive total of 141 goals in 213 matches for Dortmund.
