NBC’s Sunday Night Football is set to feature a fresh voice in the upcoming season as Mike Tirico takes the reins as the play-by-play announcer for the network’s primetime showcase. Tirico will be teaming up with veteran Sunday Night Football analyst Cris Collinsworth in the commentary booth, with Collinsworth continuing his role as the color commentator for NBC.

The 2022 NBC crew is confirmed to include Mike Tirico, Cris Collinsworth, and Melissa Stark. Stark has been appointed as the replacement for Michele Tafoya, who has decided to pursue a career in politics.

“When Mike joined NBC Sports in 2016, our intention was for him to lead our primetime Olympics coverage and become the play-by-play voice for Sunday Night Football,” stated NBC Sports chairman Pete Bevacqua. “We are thrilled to have Mike team up with Cris Collinsworth on a full-time basis in the booth this season.”

In a recent development, ESPN successfully recruited Joe Buck and Troy Aikman for Monday Night Football, prompting Al Michaels, the iconic voice of NBC’s Sunday Night Football, to make the switch to Amazon earlier this year.
