He later returned to the Cavs, reuniting with Kyrie Irving and eventually welcoming Kevin Love to the team. They had some success, including an NBA Championship in 2016, before LeBron decided to move to the Lakers, leaving the Cavs struggling without him once again.
Now, the Cavs have a talented roster that could use a few more pieces to become a serious contender, and LeBron could potentially be one of those pieces. However, there are doubts about whether the Cavs are interested in a reunion. Even though LeBron hasn’t ruled out a return to Cleveland, reports suggest that the feeling may not be mutual.
According to a podcast by Substack’s Marc Stein, there is speculation that while LeBron might consider coming back to Northeast Ohio, the Cavs may not be keen on the idea.
“In conversations that I’ve had with people in Cleveland, I think it’s just assumed that the Cavs would jump at the chance to get LeBron back,” Stein said. “And I really don’t think that’s the case.”
The Cavs are currently showing promise as a young team in the NBA, while the Lakers, LeBron’s current team, are struggling below expectations. Players like Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley, a top candidate for Rookie of the Year, are poised for success. The Cavs might be more focused on building on their current lineup rather than bringing back their former star player, LeBron James.
