By now, most people are aware of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Brazilian footballers, who play for Ukrainian clubs Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kyiv, have made a heartfelt plea for help in leaving the country following Russia’s recent attack.
Currently seeking shelter at a hotel in Kyiv, the players along with their families are in a precarious situation due to the unfolding events.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Shakhtar defender Marlon Santos expressed their urgent need for assistance, as they face challenges such as restricted movement, closed borders, and airspace. He appealed to the government of Brazil for support in facilitating their safe return home.
According to Shakhtar’s player Junior Moraes, the group is facing a severe predicament, with limited access to essentials like money, food, and fuel. With the borders sealed, their options are severely limited, leaving them stranded in Ukraine.
Taking to social media, Moraes shared the team’s struggle, emphasizing their current confinement to a hotel in Kyiv as they await updates on potential evacuation plans.
In these trying times, our thoughts go out to all those affected by this distressing situation.
