Novak Djokovic is one step closer to achieving a significant milestone at the US Open. Despite facing a tough challenge from Alexander Zverev on Friday, Djokovic emerged victorious in five sets, prevailing with a score of 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in New York.
This victory marks his 27th consecutive win at major tournaments this year and sets him up for a showdown in the final on Sunday against Danil Medvedev, who will be seeking his first major title. Djokovic has the opportunity to make history by becoming the first man since 1969 to win all four major titles in a single calendar year. A win in the final would also secure his 21st major championship, surpassing the records held by Federer and Nadal. On the other side, Medvedev advanced to his third major final by defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets (6-4, 7-5, 6-2). The women’s final is set to feature Emma Raducanu against Leylah Fernandez on Saturday.
