When Simone Biles opted out of the individual all-around Gymnastics event at the Olympics, it created an opportunity for another athlete to step up. Suni Lee seized that opportunity and clinched the Gold Medal, becoming the latest in a line of American champions that includes Biles, Gabby Douglas, Nastia Liukin, and Carly Patterson.

Over in the pool, Emma McKeon from Australia set a new record on her way to a Gold Medal in the 100m freestyle event. Evgeny Rylov of Russia also made his mark by securing his second backstroke gold in the 200m race, beating American Ryan Murphy in the process. Meanwhile, the women’s table tennis final saw an all-China showdown with Chen Meng emerging victorious over her teammate Sun Yingsha to claim the gold.

On the golf course, Xander Schauffele from the USA surged ahead in round two, taking the top spot at -11 after an impressive -8 performance on Friday in Tokyo. He leads Mexican golfer Carlos Ortiz by just one stroke, but with more rounds to go, the competition remains wide open for other contenders to make their bid for a medal.
