The scheduled world heavyweight title defense by Tyson Fury against Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas on 24 July might face a delay due to reports indicating positive coronavirus tests within Fury’s team.

Initially, Fury was looking to fight Anthony Joshua, but a court ruling in May redirected him to defend his WBC title against Wilder for the third time. Fury’s camp had hopes of arranging a match with Joshua later this year, but these plans may be disrupted if the showdown with Wilder is postponed.

Ticket holders were recently informed of a potential delay in the fight date, with Fury’s US-based promoters Top Rank stating to Sky Sports that they are closely monitoring the health situation of Tyson and his team. Further updates are anticipated following the notifications to customers.

The last bout between Fury and Wilder took place in February 2020, with Fury claiming victory by a seventh-round knockout, ending Wilder’s previously undefeated streak.
