This week, the MMA world is saddened by the untimely death of Fau Vake due to injuries sustained in an alleged assault. He was just 25 years old.
Vake’s passing was confirmed by City Kickboxing through a statement reported by The New Zealand Herald:
“It is with indescribable sadness that nearly seven days after he was hospitalized, Fau’s fight to come back to us has ended,” the statement expressed. “During this tragic time, the Vake family and City Kickboxing request privacy to mourn and remember Fau – a father, a son, and a beloved brother to us all. We will speak at an appropriate time to ensure Fau is not forgotten, but for now, please respect our privacy.”
As per The Herald, the up-and-coming MMA fighter from the prestigious City Kickboxing gym in New Zealand was kept on life support following a critical incident the week before. It is reported that four individuals are facing legal charges related to the attack on Vake. Two of them have been charged with common assault, while a third man faces two counts of assault with intent to cause harm. The fourth person is charged with intentional wounding and harm.
Fau Vake is survived by his 3-year-old daughter.
