## Race Car Crash At Talladega Speedway Results in One Driver Being Seriously Hurt

A crash during a race at the Talladega Speedway led to a fiery incident that left ARCA driver Derrick Lancaster in critical condition and needing immediate medical attention.

During the final laps of the race on Saturday, Lancaster’s car spun out and crashed into the wall after coming into contact with Drew Dollar’s vehicle. The impact caused his car to catch fire, and Lancaster sustained burns that required him to be taken to the hospital and put on a ventilator. The 48-year-old racer from Christiansburg, Virginia, was down on the track after the accident and was attended to by Nascar safety personnel before being assisted to a stretcher.

His wife, Elizabeth Nunley Lancaster, kept well-wishers updated on his progress through social media as he received medical care.

“Despite being in critical condition, there are no burns to his trachea or lungs… Thank God!!!” she shared on Sunday morning. “He will need to be on a ventilator for 48 to 72 hours to help his lungs recover from the intense heat and allow the medical team to remove any soot. His condition is improving with each passing hour. My family deeply appreciates all the prayers and support during this challenging period.”

This incident marks Lancaster’s second serious crash this season, with the earlier one occurring during a collision in Tennessee and resulting in a fractured skull.
