The Brooklyn Nets have secured another All-Star player with the addition of LaMarcus Aldridge, who chose the Nets over the Miami Heat in a surprising move.

After finalizing a buyout agreement with his former team, the San Antonio Spurs, on Thursday, Aldridge became a free agent and garnered interest from multiple teams. He ultimately decided to join the Nets for the remainder of the current season on Saturday.

A source familiar with the situation disclosed the details of the agreement to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity, as the deal has not been officially announced yet. ESPN was the first to break the news.

Joining Aldridge on the Nets are fellow All-Stars Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden. Brooklyn had previously added another former All-Star to their lineup earlier in the month by signing Blake Griffin.

During his time with the Portland Trail Blazers, Aldridge was named an All-Star four times before moving to the Spurs, where he spent five and a half seasons. He was sidelined in early March as the Spurs sought a suitable trade, which did not materialize before the deadline, leading to his contract buyout.
