As Auburn geared up to punt, Thompson players resigned to their fate on the sidelines as time slipped away.
But then, Korbyn Williams from Thompson blocked the punt and scored a critical touchdown.
With only 18 seconds left, Thompson still needed to recover the onside kick and score, given their 28-26 deficit. In an incredible turn of events, they successfully secured possession at the 46-yard line.
Thompson benefited from two pass interference penalties, which advanced them to the Tigers’ 18-yard line, setting up Trevor Hardy for a 35-yard field goal attempt to clinch the win.
In a nerve-wracking moment, Hardy converted the kick, sealing a 29-28 victory for Thompson.
