Carlos Correa’s future with the Houston Astros seems uncertain as trade discussions loom before the upcoming season.
According to a report from Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Astros are considering trading their All-Star shortstop due to uncertainty around re-signing him before he hits free agency at the end of the season.
In addition to Correa, MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart reported that George Springer, a key free agent for the team, is unlikely to return due to salary demands and potential pitching staff upgrades needed by the Astros.
Despite Correa’s past injury issues, having missed a significant number of games from 2017 to 2019, he showed strong performance in 2020, notably during the postseason with a .362/.455/.766 batting average and six home runs in 13 games.
