Ryder Cup Delayed Until 2021 Because of Coronavirus Pandemic

The impact of Covid-19 on the world has been significant, leading to changes in various sporting events. While many competitions have been canceled or postponed, golf has managed to adapt relatively well, especially for regular tournaments. However, special events like the Ryder Cup, known for its lively atmosphere fueled by passionate fans, would lose much of its essence without spectators.

To preserve the unique spirit of the Ryder Cup, this year’s event has been rescheduled to 2021. The PGA of America is set to formally announce this decision on Wednesday to ensure that the tournament can be enjoyed with fans at Whistling Straits. Additionally, the President’s Cup scheduled for next year in Charlotte and the following Ryder Cup planned for Rome in 2022 will also be delayed by a year each. This adjustment maintains the alternating schedule between the two prestigious golf competitions.
