Following a 16-year tenure as the Chargers’ key quarterback, Philip Rivers seems poised to depart and embark on a new chapter with a different team for the first time in his career.

While Rivers may not attract as much attention as Tom Brady did, there still seems to be interest in him from various teams.

According to Jason La Canfora, an NFL reporter for CBS, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are gaining significant attention as a potential landing spot for Rivers.

The Buccaneers are expected to retain Jameis Winston but are considering options for a backup or a competitor for the starting position.

Rivers is coming off a season in which he threw for 4,615 yards and 23 touchdowns, but he also tallied 20 interceptions and faced 34 sacks.

With the Chargers finishing the season with a 5-11 record and missing the playoffs, Rivers appears to be seeking a fresh start.

Recent reports indicate that Rivers has relocated from Southern California to Florida, suggesting he’s already in the vicinity of the Buccaneers.

Given Jameis Winston’s tendency to be inconsistent in his passing, resulting in a high number of turnovers and him frequently losing the starting role, the addition of Rivers could provide stability and competition for the quarterback position.
