Former Giants player expresses disapproval of team’s new hire

Former San Francisco Giants player Aubrey Huff has voiced his criticism of his old team’s decision to hire a female coach, Alyssa Nakken, likening it to the #MeToo movement. Huff’s comments came after the Giants made the announcement of Nakken’s addition as a coach, bringing in her experience as a former Sacramento State softball player.

Huff took to Twitter to share his thoughts, referencing a past incident where he faced backlash for wearing a thong in the clubhouse with female reporters present. He expressed his concerns about having a full-time female coach, commenting, “This has #metoo & #BelieveAllWomen written all over it.”

His remarks took a more derogatory turn as he continued, questioning the idea of receiving baseball guidance from a former female softball player, accompanied by an eye-rolling emoji. Huff’s tone drew criticism from Twitter users, with @PhilSchwarzmann sarcastically pointing out, “I can’t imagine an ex baseball player having a female’s name, but here you are!” in response to Huff.

Despite the controversy stirred by his comments, San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler stood by his decision in hiring Nakken, along with Mark Hallberg, as assistant coaches.
