Manchester City will decide on Thursday if Leroy Sané requires surgery. This comes after fears that Sané injured the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee following a crash with Trent Alexander-Arnold during the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday.

But Man City are not the only ones watching these developments with interest. There are speculations as to whether the injury could complicate Sané’s transfer to Bayern Munich if surgery is required. The deal is still not official, and the German team seem to be awaiting the results of the tests before throwing down an official offer.

City have announced a minimum offer of €150m (£137m) for the Germany national player. This is well beyond what Bayern would usually consider. City still have a 2 years on their contract with Sané, and are refusing to take a lower offer.

There is a more reserved attitude towards transfer fees amongst German teams. Even Bayern does not rise to the level of fellow European teams such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris St-Germain.  They now have until the end of the German transfer window on the 2nd of September to come to an arrangement with City.

Sané has not officially admitted to wanting to leave City. But there are reports that he is in favour of the transfer.
