Just today on the Fourth of July, Matt Greavers, Nathan Adrian, Leah Smith, and Allison Schmidt were named swimming captains of Team USA. They were former captains in the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships. The coaching quad all have experience in the World Championships.

Nathan Adrian dealt with many difficulties, especially after the news of his testicular cancer. He is still fairly young at 30 years old. Adrian has been a member of 3 Olympic teams. Cancer won’t discourage him. The best of luck to him in his upcoming competitions.

Matt Greavers won the 100 backstroke in London’s 2012 Olympics. Although he didn’t make the cut for the 2016 Olympic team, he set a world record in 2017’s World Championships.

Leah Smith went to the Olympics in 2016. She received a bronze medal in the 400 m. Additionally, she showed her ability to be a great team player in the 4 x 200 m where she won a gold medal.

Allison Schmidt took time off after the 2016 Rio Olympics. She set a freestyle record in the 2012 Olympics along with a shiny gold medal. With such a magnificent record, Schmidt decided to return this year to Team USA after building herself up in other swimming competitions this year.

Together, these 4 captains make an amazing swimming force for the 2020 Olympics.
