According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Los Angeles Angels and their standout outfielder Mike Trout are in the process of completing a massive 12-year contract extension valued at over $430 million. This deal marks the biggest in the history of professional sports.
Following in quick succession after Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, a 27-year-old player who has won the American League MVP award twice, will be earning an average of $36 million annually under this new agreement.
While Trout was expected to become a free agent after the 2020 season, it now seems likely that he will remain loyal to the Angels for the entirety of his career.
The question arises: Is Mike Trout deserving of this massive contract? The resounding answer is yes.
