It has been widely reported that the star outfielder Bryce Harper has agreed to a monumental 13-year, $330 million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.
This contract sets a new benchmark in Major League Baseball, surpassing Giancarlo Stanton’s $325 million deal with the New York Yankees. Harper, who expressed a desire to play for one team for the entirety of his career, has secured a no-trade clause and opted against including an opt-out clause in the agreement.
Harper’s decision to join the Phillies marks the most significant move of the team’s offseason. In addition to Harper, the Phillies have made other notable acquisitions such as J.T. Realmuto, David Robertson, Jean Segura, and Andrew McCutchen.
As a six-time All-Star, Harper is set to bring his talents to Philadelphia after a season with the Washington Nationals where they finished with an 80-82 record, aiming to provide a much-needed offensive spark for the Phillies.
