Switzerland is facing a setback as Michelle Gisin, one of their promising athletes, will miss the upcoming Skiing World Championships due to the need for surgery. Gisin, who sustained ligament injuries in her right knee during a Super-G race, has decided to undergo the operation, forcing her to sit out of the championship next month.
This injury marks the first major setback for the 25-year-old, who has previously achieved success with an Olympic title in Alpine skiing and a silver medal in 2017. Gisin has been transparent about her health journey, regularly updating her fans on social media. In a recent post on Instagram, she acknowledged the challenges of slowing down her fast-paced life and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to take a pause.
Gisin’s injury comes just a month after her elder brother suffered severe injuries to his ribs, pelvis, and backbone during the World Cup downhill championship in Italy. The World Cup championship in Are, Sweden, is scheduled from February 5th to 17th. While Gisin focuses on her recovery and health during this period, Switzerland will feel the absence of one of their key athletes, hoping for her swift return to the sport.
