Mina Guli, an activist from Australia advocating for global water conservation, shares her challenging journey to complete 100 marathons in 100 days worldwide.Currently in South Africa, the 48-year-old Guli has already completed over half of her ambitious goal but is currently unwell. Despite her condition, she is determined to continue with the remaining marathons, each lasting about nine hours.

During a phone interview on December 30th with The Associated Press, Guli expressed her struggles after visiting Beaufort West, a town facing severe water scarcity.

Guli is the founder of Thirst, a non-profit organization focused on educating Chinese youth about responsible water usage. Her marathon journey began at the New York Marathon in November and has taken her through various terrains across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Admitting the challenges, Guli acknowledges the physical toll of running daily, lack of rest, and immediate marathons after long flights. Despite not being a fan of running, she finds purpose in bringing attention to critical water issues worldwide.

Guli emphasizes that her marathon endeavor aims to raise awareness about water scarcity challenges faced by growing populations and industries. She highlights the plight of communities lacking sufficient water and those striving to find sustainable solutions. She has visited areas impacted by water shortages, including the Aral Sea in Uzbekistan and regions in India, to understand the realities of water scarcity firsthand.
