Tottenham bounced back from their setback against Wolves with an impressive 3-0 win against Cardiff to kick off 2019 in style. The team showed great form in the New Year, with early goals from Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, and Son Heung-min within the first 30 minutes.

With this win, Spurs reclaimed the second spot in the Premier League standings, overtaking champions Manchester City and trailing leaders Liverpool by six points. They will be closely watching the upcoming match between these two teams on Thursday.

Tottenham faced a tough challenge against Wolves, losing 3-1 after initially leading 1-0 in the final 20 minutes. Despite concerns about fatigue due to a quick turnaround, manager Mauricio Pochettino stuck with 10 of the same starting players against Cardiff and his decision paid off as they sealed the victory before halftime.

This win comes on the back of a 6-2 victory against Everton and a 5-0 win over Bournemouth in the last 10 days. The clean sheet against Cardiff was a welcome improvement after some shaky defensive displays in recent matches, notably against Wolves. Tottenham has now won 10 of their 12 away Premier League matches this season.

Despite the win, there were chances for more goals, and some surprising decisions by Pochettino that raised eyebrows. He opted to make just one substitution despite concerns about player fatigue from the previous match, with both changes coming late in the game, in the 76th and 86th minutes.
