Rafael Nadal is feeling positive and eager to participate in the upcoming Australian Open where he aims to win his 18th Grand Slam title. After a right knee injury forced him to retire from the US Open semifinal in early September 2018, he has been out of competitive tennis. The 32-year-old had ankle surgery in November to address the issue.

Nadal is scheduled to play at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi, featuring other top players like Novak Djokovic, as well as a special exhibition match between Serena and Venus Williams. Nadal mentioned that he started training around two weeks ago and is gradually progressing.

It is crucial for Nadal to move forward and maintain his fitness levels to perform at his peak during the Australian Open starting on January 14th. His 17th Grand Slam victory came at the French Open in June, and he is pleased with his progress. Nadal understands the importance of being fully prepared for the competition.

As he gears up for the challenges ahead, Nadal aims to showcase his skills and take the necessary steps to succeed. On the other hand, Novak Djokovic had surgery on his right elbow in February after struggling with the injury throughout the year, affecting his performance.
