Justin Herbert of Oregon, who had the potential to be the top quarterback picked in the 2019 NFL draft, surprised many when the school officially declared on Wednesday that he would be staying for his senior year.
Herbert stated, “The University of Oregon holds a special place in my heart for as long as I can remember. I am profoundly thankful to everyone who has contributed to our program. My loyalty to my teammates, coaches, Ducks supporters, and the University of Oregon is unwavering. I have decided to continue at the University of Oregon for my senior year. Go Ducks!”
Standing tall at 6’5”, Herbert was recognized as Sports Illustrated’s top quarterback prospect and highly esteemed as one of the finest in the nation. His choice to remain in college will significantly impact the upcoming draft. The quarterback pool for NFL franchises in need of a quarterback has now become even more limited.
