Josh Gordon, wide receiver for the New England Patriots, has revealed his decision to step back from the game and his team to prioritize his mental well-being, amidst speculation that he may be looking at a potential “indefinite ban” from the league.
In a statement, Gordon expressed, “My mental health is a top priority for me right now to make sure I can continue performing at my best. I have been feeling the need for a mental reset. As a result, I will be taking a temporary break from football to concentrate on my mental health.” He also expressed gratitude towards the New England Patriots, Coach Bill Belichick, and team owner Robert Kraft.
The NFL later confirmed Gordon’s suspension, stating, “As of today, Josh Gordon has been placed on the Reserve/Commissioner Suspended list indefinitely due to violating the conditions of his conditional reinstatement as per the Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.”
