Kathryn Plummer led the charge with 19 kills and ten digs, supported by Morgan Hentz’s 32 digs and 32 freshmen, and Holly Campbell’s 15 career wins. The Cardinal secured a hard-fought victory over the Huskers in a nail-biting match with scores of 28-26, 22-25, 25-16, 15-25, and 15-12. Hentz expressed the team’s perseverance and satisfaction with their stellar performance that led them to triumph.
Audriana Fitzmorris contributed 14 kills, while Jenna Gray and Tami Alade provided 57 assists and eight blocks respectively for Stanford. Despite Plummer, the national player of the year, struggling with a 6-foot-6 stature and hitting at a .153 percentage, the team rallied together for the win.
Plummer acknowledged the team’s collective effort in finding alternate scoring strategies when she faced challenges. Mikaela Foecke stood out for Nebraska with 27 kills and a game-high 29 points, showcasing her remarkable performance.
Coach Kevin Hambly commended the intense match, emphasizing the team’s resilience through a tough battle. He expressed admiration for Foecke’s impending departure from the NCAA, highlighting her impact on the game and leaving a lasting impression on the league.
