Mikey Garcia vacates his IBF lightweight title to fight with Errol Spence Jr.

On Tuesday, it has been seen that Mickey Garcia has vacated his lightweight world title. This is said to be the signs that he is now going closer to go up by two weight divisions which are for a fight as well as he has said that he has wanted this for months. Garcia is said to be still holding the WBC 135 pound belt but has vacated his IBF version. It is seen that he has gone against for the purse bid which is said to be for mandatory defence which is against the Richard Commey. This was said to be the scheduled to happen at 12 PM ET on Tuesday.

Earlier, it has been seen that Garcia and Commey have informed IBF about this fight and the body then cancelled the previous purse bid and gave boot of them a two weeks time to sign the contract. After that, it is seen that Commey promoter Lou DiBella has submitted, but Garcia did not. In a statement by Garcia, he has confirmed that he has vacated his title. He added by saying that he did not have got enough time to negotiate with the Commey fight in time as IBF required, so he vacates his position.

Till now there is no word from Garcia as he declined to give details about the fight with Spence. It was seen that the deal was finalized which will be a pay-per-view fight. Garcia added by saying that IBF was seen pushing for the Commey fight ASAP, but with the WBC he has got some more time to decide what he wants. He said that he is now looking for big fights rather than standard fights. The belt that Garcia has vacated this year is said to be second IBF belt.
