Cleveland Cavaliers sign forward Jacorey Williams for their training camp roster

The Cleveland Cavaliers have reached to an agreement with forwarding Jacorey Williams, as per NBA Front Office’s Keith Smith. The terms of the contract signed between the two parties have not be disclosed yet. The deal may serve as just a temporary one as the Cavaliers will be going through all the options on the playing field as the season comes closer.

The Cavaliers had signed Williams late in the offseason training camp last year for a short period before being waived off at the end of the preseason to make space for newly acquired Dwayne Wade. Later, Williams went on and played for the team Canton Charge of the NBA G-League, averaging 15.4 points per game and 7.5 rebounds in each game.

He played his first three college seasons at Arkansas, before getting transferred to Middle Tennessee State in his final year. During his time with the Middle Tennessee State, Williams improved his draft stock by making 17.3 points in each game accompanied by 7.3 rebounds per game. This achievement helped him earn the honor of USA Conference Player of the Year for 2016-17.

It is not completely known whether Williams will be able to make the final roster before he starts of the season, as the Cavaliers might just be taking the strides he accomplished last year to know if it is worth it to add him in the final roster.

The Cavs training camp roster presently comprises of twenty players, the maximum which they can have entering into the training camp. Coming at the forward position, Williams will be looking forward to competing for the minimum minutes behind important players like Sam Dekker, Larry Nance Jr., Channing Frye, and Ante Zizic, all of whom will hold solidified positions as the training camp nears. Well, it will be interesting to see how Williams performs and intrigues the Cavs in the training camp.
