The Stanley Cup was a guest of honor at Disney World in June for the wedding ceremony of two famous Disney fans who encountered while they played on the opposing hockey major league teams. The ceremony later featured on Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings series season premiere. Besides this, the trophy again made a surprise appearance in another wedding held this past weekend in Arizona but the only difference- it was without television cameras or any production crew.
Lane Lambert, the former assistant coach of Capitals had his special day with the Stanley Cup on Sunday in Arizona. His daughter, Taylor ate the lucky charms off the Cup, which one could also see at TPC Scottsdale, the website of the Phoenix Open. In the latter half of the day, Lambert tied the knot with Annie Wixom in a small backyard ceremony.
After the nuptials, the guests present at the wedding sipped several beverages such as soda, from the Cup, that is eventually a needed activity for any person who gets lucky enough to get the trophy for a day. After Lambert’s wedding ceremony, the Stanley Cup made stops first at the W Scottsdale hotel and later at the Phoenician Resort, where the trophy was the centre of attraction.
The 53-year-old Lambert has played in 283 games in the NHL in more than 6 seasons. He joined Barry Trotz’s staff as an assistant coach along with the Nashville Predators in the year 2011. Later on, Lambert followed Trotz to Washington D.C. after Trotz and became the Capitals coach in the year 2014. Andi Lambert, Lambert’s first wife of 14 years, passed away in September 2015, after fighting a long battle with a rare king of breast cancer. The Stanley Cup was with the Capitals massage therapist, Cleo Bates on Monday and was later with assistant coach Blaine Forsythe on Wednesday.
