Cleveland Indians Put Leonys Martin on the 10-Day Disabled List

Cleveland Indians place Leonys Martin on the ten-day disabled list

Martin, obtained by the Cleveland Indians in a trade with Detroit before the deadline, has been sidelined for non-baseball-related health reasons and placed on the 10-day DL, as the team announced on Thursday.
Greg Allen will step in to fill Martin’s spot on the 25-man roster.

Martin was absent from Wednesday’s game against the Minnesota Twins due to an illness that struck him overnight after Tuesday’s match, revealed Terry Francona, the team’s manager.
“He fell ill during the night. We’re managing his health,” Francona stated on Wednesday.

While not divulging specifics about Martin’s ailment, Chris Antonetti, the Indians’ president of baseball operations, indicated that the team anticipates Martin to be out for at least ten days, possibly longer.

In the six games he has participated in with the Indians, Martin has batted an average of .333, hitting two home runs and bringing in 4 RBIs. The team holds a 4-2 record with Martin in the lineup.

“It all happened suddenly. Right after the recent game, he wasn’t feeling well. We’re addressing his condition and working on a plan for his recovery,” commented Antonetti.

Regarding the potential need for outfield reinforcements due to Martin’s absence, Antonetti mentioned the possibility of an August trade, necessitating players to clear waivers post-deadline.

“Throughout August, we’ll be scouting for chances to enhance our team. How Martin’s health situation might impact that, we’re unsure at this point,” Antonetti elaborated.

We wish Martin a swift recovery and a prompt return to action without any further setbacks this season.
