Despite only playing part of the last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Larry Nance Jr. left a lasting impression on the team.

According to Yahoo Sports’ Jordan Schultz, the Cavaliers are looking to extend Nance’s contract for the long term. Schultz tweeted, “Sources: #Cavs having ongoing discussions with Larry Nance, Jr. Representation regarding a contract extension. Both sides would like a new deal (CLE likes him). Nance – who posted a career-high TSP last season – is currently scheduled to earn less than $2.3M next year.”
Nance had a strong and efficient season, prompting the Cavs to see him as a valuable player for future improvements.
Acquired from the Los Angeles Lakers in a trade deadline deal last season, Nance brought energy and strong play to the Cavaliers. His scoring ability, especially on offense, stood out.
The Cavaliers selected Nance, 25, in the 2009 offseason, making him a restricted free agent. Now, both sides are seeking a long-term partnership.
Nance’s connection to the Cavaliers goes beyond his recent stint. His father, Larry Nance Sr., spent seven seasons with the team, earning two All-Star selections and averaging 16.8 points and 8.2 rebounds.
Besides his on-court skills and energy, Nance has the drive to succeed with the team. In February, he followed in his father’s footsteps, paving the way for further success in the upcoming seasons.
