DeMarcus will join the Warriors on a 1-year deal: Report

DeMarcus Cousins, the former all-star player who had previously suffered a torn left Achilles injury, is now on the path to recovery. In a recent development, Cousins has announced his decision to join the Golden State Warriors. Reports indicate that he has inked a one-year contract worth $5.3 million with the reigning two-time champions.

The Warriors are expected to provide Cousins with ample time to fully recuperate from his injury before he can actively participate in the upcoming season. Cousins, a player who has been selected for two All-NBA teams, disclosed his decision in New Orleans after the Pelicans secured a deal with free agent Julius Randle. In his previous 48 games, Cousins showcased impressive statistics with an average of 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and a 3-point shooting percentage of 35.4%.

Cousins revealed that he explored various options with his agent before opting to join the Warriors. With JaVale McGee departing to the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency, Cousins deliberated between Golden State and Boston. The all-star player personally contacted Bob Myers, the president of basketball operations for the Warriors, to discuss his decision to join the team.

Referring to his move as a strategic chess move, Cousins engaged in conversations with key players such as Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green, all of whom expressed their excitement about his arrival.

Currently focused on rehabilitating his injury in preparation for the upcoming season’s training camp, Cousins sees this opportunity as a crucial step towards his full recovery.

Curry took to Twitter to welcome his new teammate, referring to Cousins as the “3rd splash Brother.” His arrival has caused the odds for the Warriors to win the 2019 NBA championship to shift in their favor, making them strong contenders for the upcoming season.
