Chris Paul’s status for Game 6 will be evaluated after a hamstring injury

Houston Rocket’s star guard Chris Paul will be evaluated for his status for Game 6 of the Western Conference finals due to a right hamstring injury. After the Houston won the Game 5 over the Golden State Warriors 98-94 on Thursday, Paul exited in the last minute and received an extensive postgame treatment. He later left the Toyota center around midnight.

The Rockets will be updating the status on whether Paul will be playing for the Game 6 soon after he gets more of treatment. Mike D’Antonio, Houston coach, said, “We’ll see [if he can play Game 6]. He’ll be evaluated tomorrow, but obviously, you saw him limp off, and he’s a tough guy. They’ll do whatever they can do. If he’s there, great, good for him. If he isn’t, we have enough guys; it’s time for somebody else to step up.”

Paul, who is a 13-year veteran player, is just a win away from his first NBA Finals appearance. He reached for the hamstring after he missed a runner in the lane with 51.7 seconds left. One could see him in discomfort during the next two possessions, and soon, he was seen exiting the game after he consulted Keith Jones, the team’s athletic trainer, during a timeout with 22.4 seconds left.

In the second half, Paul managed to score 18 out of his 20 points to help his team take a 3-2 series lead. He also had six assists, three steals, and seven rebounds. Since late in Game 2, Paul has had a sore on his right foot. He had later said that the soreness was reducing between the Game 3 and Game 4.

Notably, Paul has been sidelined from playing four times during his NBA career, as per ESPN Stats & Information data.
