Mike Soroka’s brilliant debut helps Braves win over Mets

Having 97 wins led the Washington Nationals to get the National League East title in the last season. Each of the other teams Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies lost around 85 games. This was just one of the two divisions in baseball which had a winning team.

If the last month of 2018 season was a signal then looks like things may turn around in this season. Despite having the talent, the Nationals have had a losing record while the Braves, Mets and the Phillies are presently above .500. It was last on September 6, 2014, that the Braves were six games above .500.

With 17-10, the Mets have managed to have a slim edge in the National League East, but on Tuesday, the team got another taste of the new, full of vigor Braves’ revival. Mike Soroka, the Braves’ prospect for six innings made his debut in the league and vexed the Mets for about six innings. He led Atlanta to beat its rival for the third time this season in four games.

After Soroka is the second baseman along with Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuna Jr., those performed exceptionally well by combining for two runs and three hits off the Mets active player Noah Syndergaard. Albies, Acuna, and Soroka are the three youngest players who are actively playing in the majors and are representing a great future for the Atlanta.

Syndergaard attained three runs over six innings against the potent young players of the Braves. His command in the game could be seen when the Braves managed to get a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Syndergaard said that the loss in the game is just on him citing the reason to be lack of feel of the pitches and the aggressiveness shown by the Braves’.
