The Browns are going to pay Jarvis Landry at some point of time, having given up a significant amount of assets in a trade with the Dolphins to bring Landry to Cleveland on a single year contract which paid him $16 million.
As per sources, they are taking care of that before the draft and will be locking down the wideout for a monster five-year contract extension worth $75.5 million.
The payout comes packed along with a $47 million guaranteed, a mountain of cash for a slot receiver and around $9 million more guarantees than Mike Evans netted from the Bucs. The Browns acquired Landry last month in exchange for a 2018 fourth-rounder and a seventh-round pick in the year 2019. Landry was earlier scheduled to play out the year under the $15.982 million franchise tag which he has, but the Browns, however, had hoped to work out an extension contract all along.
Whether Landry is worth all of this cash will strongly bring out strong opinions from the Twitter followers in the weeks to come. The Browns sit at a higher position of the NFL with $70 million in cap space but have landed on that spot via strict bookkeeping as well as a rash of veteran contracts.
