Wide receiver Kendall Wright, a free agent who has played for the Chicago Bears in the last season, will sign a deal with the Minnesota Vikings. This was reported by the NFL Network report on Friday.
Wright led the Bears with 59 receptions for one touchdown and 614 yards in the last season. He will fill up the space left in the Vikings’ receiving corps as Jarius Wright signed a deal with the Tennessee Titans. It is expected that Kendall Wright will be used as a slot receiver by the Vikings as the team has already had wide receivers Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs, who are one of the top duos in the NFL.
Prior to his short gig in Chicago, Wright was a 20th overall pick of the Tennessee Titans out of the Baylor who drafted him in the year 2012. He has achieved 94 passes for 1079 yards and two touchdowns in the year 2013. However, he has not come close to those numbers since then.
He signed a one-year free-agent contract worth $4 million the Chicago Bears last year after he played for five seasons with the Titans. In his season with the Bears, Wright recorded 59 receptions for 614 yards and one touchdown. In his six-year career, Wright has played in around 82 to 96 games. The hope everyone now has is that Wright finds the end zone more than the one time he did last year when he played with his former NFC North rival Bears.
Moreover, the Vikings will now have a better idea on how to use Wright than how the Bears did last year. For starters, the Vikings are better off at the receiver position now than what the Chicago was at any point in the year 2017. With Diggs and Thielen at the top of the depth chart, Wright’s skills can be used properly as a third option in the slot instead of a team’s top receiving target.
