Following the reports which informed that former Orioles outfielder Albert Belle’s blood has 0.08 alcohol content, he was arrested during his spring training game which was held in Scottsdale, Ariz. As per the report, Belle has been charged with two counts, one is the count of DUI and another one is the count of extreme DUI, it means high alcohol level in blood.
Rodewald tweeted a picture of Belle and wrote on Twitter “BREAKING: Albert Belle arrested in Scottsdale during a spring training game.2 counts of indecent exposure, 1 count of DUI (using liquor, drugs or vapors) and 1 count of Extreme DUI (BAC of .08 or more)”. He has been booked into the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office jail. The San Francisco Giants training hub which is situated in Scottsdale comes under the Maricopa County Sheriff’s jurisdiction.
Talking more about Belle, in 1990 he had spent around 10 weeks for receiving treatment for alcoholism. Belle, five-time All-Star outfielder, he was well-known as the most dreaded hitters during 1990s. During that time, he won five Silver Slugger awards.
That had helped him to take the American League in RBIs for three times. In 1995 he achieved another milestone in his life and became the first player to score 50 doubles and 50 home runs in a single season.
After that, he emerged as the highest-paid player and signed a five-year deal with the Orioles in 1999. He received $65 million for that deal. Before his retirement from spring training, he played two seasons. In 2001 he retired from the season following degenerative hip osteoarthritis.
Well, he has faced many controversies in his life. For using a corked bat in 1994 he was suspended for seven games. He also tried to replace the evidence. He was fined in 1996, after knocking down Milwaukee Brewers infielder Fernando Vina.
