Despite having the best record in baseball, the New York Yankees have struggled against the Houston Astros, with the Astros winning the series 5-2. The Yankees managed two wins thanks to Aaron Judge’s clutch hits but largely faced difficulties against the Astros.

In a bid to strengthen their team, recent reports from MLB insider Jack Curry indicate that the Yankees have approached the Nationals for a potential blockbuster trade for Juan Soto.

“Yankees have reached out to express interest in acquiring Juan Soto. Now it’s a matter of the Nationals telling the Yankees (and other teams) what they want for a generational talent. It’s early in the process. Both sides must determine if there’s a match in terms of talent exchange,” Curry reports.

MLB Network insider Jon Heyman suggests that the Yankees may need to part with promising prospects Anthony Volpe and Jasson Dominguez as part of a potential trade package for Soto.

This trade could come at a high cost, but the Yankees are motivated to fortify their roster in pursuit of a World Series victory.

Both the Nationals and Yankees have until the August 2 trade deadline to negotiate and finalize any potential deal.
