Chris Froome is determined to make a comeback at the Tour de France next year after a devastating crash that he described as a “freak, freak accident” during the Criterium du Dauphine in June. Suffering a fractured neck, fractured ribs, and a broken hip, among other injuries, Froome has no memory of the incident.
Following the crash, Froome was rushed to a hospital in Saint Etienne where he underwent surgery that left him struggling to breathe. Unfortunately, his injuries ruled him out of contention for a fifth Tour de France title this year.
Fortunately, doctors have assured Froome that he can fully recover. With determination and perseverance, Froome is now focused on regaining his strength for the Tour de France 2020. During an interview with Team INEOS, he shared his rigorous daily routine of 6 hours of exercises and his progress in bearing weight on his injured leg.
“I’m exceeding the original recovery timeline,” Froome stated. “I set myself incremental goals each week to regain movement and flexibility.”
While the extent of his injuries raises doubts about his full recovery, Froome’s positive mindset and strong determination are driving him towards a successful comeback. With his sights set on the Tour de France, the possibilities remain open for the resilient cyclist.
